INX-ZA operates community-run Internet exchanges on a cost-recovery basis. Port fees are set by the community-elected INX management committee and are used to support the operation of the exchanges.

Simple, transparent pricing

INX-ZA has no setup fees. DINX and NMBINX currently have waived port fees, while 400 Gb/s connectivity at CINX, DINX and NMBINX is coming soon.

Monthly Port Fees

Port fees are generally waived for critical Internet infrastructure, such as DNS Root Servers, and for other not-for-profit associations located at an INX. The community-elected INX management committee determines which services qualify and when port fees should be waived.

The INX management committee has also waived port fees for DINX and NMBINX.

Data-centre incentives

Africa Data Centres (ADC) subsidises INX port costs for peers connecting at its facilities.

Digital Parks Africa (DPA) likewise subsidises INX port costs for peers connecting at its facilities.

Where these subsidies apply, the INX port fee is zero. Any separate colocation or facility charges remain subject to the relevant data-centre provider.

Cross-connects

INX-ZA does not levy cross-connect charges.

Where a cross-connect charge applies, it is levied by the relevant colocation provider rather than INX-ZA. INX-ZA has negotiated agreements providing zero recurring cross-connect charges at a number of participating facilities.

Colocation-provider charges and installation arrangements should therefore be confirmed with the relevant facility when arranging a connection.

Who can connect?

The INX exchanges are open to organisations with their own IP address space and an Autonomous System Number (ASN).

Getting connected

To connect to an INX, contact the INX operations team with your network and site requirements. You can select the INX location that best suits your network while retaining access to peers connected to the wider exchange fabric within that city.

Prices, subsidies, policies and service details can change. The current INX-ZA published documentation and applicable member agreement take precedence over this summary.
